I got my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University in 1983. I worked for Boeing for 34 years; when I retired in Dec 2011 I was an Associate Technical Fellow. I spent most of those year developing a package of software for doing structural dynamic analyses which is used primarily to predict flutter stability of aircraft. The software began as a fortran program but over the years has moved to C and now is mostly C++.
