Editing Octave para GNU/Linux

= Distribuciones =

La forma recomendada para instalar Octave en sistemas GNU/Linux es a través del sistema de paquetes de instalación de cada distribución. Si por alguna razón esto no es posible, o la versión de Octave es muy antigüa, considera usar una forma de [[#Distribución_independiente|Distribución independiente]] como se describe abajo o [[Building|instalar a través del código fuente de Octave]].

= Distribución independiente =

Using a distribution independent approach is particularly useful if you have an older GNU/Linux distribution or if you do not have root access on your system. A common drawback of this approach is, that these solutions are running in some kind of sandbox. Thus limitations in the communication with the underlying system may exist.  For example, executing system binaries outside the sandbox might be impossible.
